USAID Emergency Team Fired After First Night on Myanmar Earthquake Relief

| 0

A team of three rescue and recovery workers from the U.S. Agency for International Development were fired the day after they arrived in Myanmar to perform relief work after a devastating magnitude 7.7 earthquake there.

The team slept outside due to the risks of aftershocks and more collapses of buildings, then received termination notices. The last day of their jobs will be in a few months.

Although Donald Trump pledged $9 million to Myanmar after the quake, he has essentially eliminated USAID, the primary agency to respond. China, Russia, India and other countries are responding.
