Judge Allows DJT Requirement that Illegal Aliens Must Register and Carry Documentation

Federal District Court Judge Trevor Neil McFadden upheld an executive order by Donald Trump to require all illegal immigrants to register with the government and always carry documentation of their registration.

The requirement also applies to Canadians who visit the USA for more than 30 days, such as “snowbirds” who spend winters in Florida.

The EO now takes effect immediately.

Non-citizens who live in the USA legally or illegally have long been required to register with the government by federal laws, starting with the Alien Registration Act of 1940 and evolving to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. These laws have only rarely been enforced against illegal immigrants.

Homeland Security officials say illegal immigrants who do not register can face fines or prosecution. Failure to register will be treated as a crime. Registered immigrants will have to carry documentation of their registration documents. Failure to register or to carry documentation risks prison time and fines. Even minor long-ago criminal history is now being used by the government to detain and expel people without notice.

Registration is mandatory for all illegal immigrants who are at least 14 years of age. Registration requires providing fingerprints and address.

Critics point out that this requires illegal immigrants to either identify themselves and their location which may be used to feed Trump’s mass deportations, or keep their heads down as best they can and risk being being caught.

Homeland Security says people required to register as illegal aliens should immediately establish an account on the Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
