Trump-Alito Phone Call Before SCOTUS Hears Request

USA President-elect Donald J. Trump and Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito talked with each other by telephone. The Supreme Court was about to take up Trump’s request to block sentencing for the 34 felony counts for which a New York court found him guilty of paying hush money to interfere with an election.Although both men claimed to have discussed only a recommendation for a former law clerk of Alito to work in Trump’s upcoming administration, the timing of the call raised ethics concerns and renewed interest in prior questions of ethics involving Alito.
