Governor Stitt Wants a State Militia

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt wants to reinstate the Oklahoma State Guard, which would be under his sole authority and deployable only within the state. It has been dormant, not funded and not organized since the 1970s.

This would be separate from the Oklahoma National Guard. Each state’s National Guard gets some funding from the federal government and draws authority from the federal government as a militia that is organized under the USA Constitution
