Truck Drives Into New Orleans Revelers

Around 03.15 on New Year’s morning, a Ford pickup truck flying an Islamic State (ISIS) flag plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans near the intersection with Canal Street. The attack killed 15 and injured about 35.

The FBI identified the driver as Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a Ford pickup truck into a crowd of revelers. He then left the truck and fired shots at police before they shot him dead. Jabbar was 42 years old, a USA citizen from Texas who served 13 years in the US army. His service included deployment to Afghanistan in 2009-10.

At least two improvised explosive devices were planted nearby but did not explode..
