Third Judge Blocks DJT Attempt to Limit Birthright Citizenship

Federal District Court Judge Joseph Laplante became the third judge to block Donald Trump’s executive order that seeks to restrict birthright citizenship.

Laplante granted a preliminary injunction requested in the first federal lawsuit filed against the EO. Plaintiffs are New Hampshire Indonesian Community Support, LULAC and Make the Road New York.

At least eight lawsuits have been filed against the EO. Two other federal judges have blocked the EO’s implementation. One of those actions by District Judge John Coughenour has been appealed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
