22 State Attorneys General Sue to Block NIH Cuts

| 0

In federal District Court, Attorneys General for 22 states sued the Trump Administration to at least temporarily block a policy change by the National Institutes of Health that would cut support of research overhead for grant recipients.

NIH is the premier funder of USA biomedical research at such facilities as universities and medical centers. The new policy abruptly caps indirect costs for facilities and administration at 15% and applies it to current grants as well as future grants. The current average is 27%.

The Attorneys General argue that such an abrupt drastic cut will jeopardize medical research, and that it is illegally applied.
