Senior Russian General Killed Near Moscow by Car Bomb

Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed at Balashikha just outside Moscow by a car bomb.

In the General Staff of the Russian military, he was a deputy head of the main operational department. This is the second such killing of a Russian general in about four months. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed by a bomb on an electric scooter 17 December 2024.

This assassination occurred as Donald Trump’s primary negotiator Steve Witkoff was due for his fourth meeting since February with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are discussing a peace plan between Russia and Ukraine.
