DJT Pleads with Putin to Reduce Attacks on Ukraine

After weeks of futility in trying to get a peace deal signed between Russia and Ukraine, a Russian attack that killed 12 and injured more than 100 around the capitol Kyiv prompted Donald Trump to post on social media, “Vladimir, STOP!”

On his social media network Truth Social, the full post said, “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”

During his campaign, Trump bragged that he could in a single day end the war that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He has scaled back and sometimes even cut off arms and intelligence to Ukraine, offered Russian President Vladimir Putin everything Putin wants, extorted Ukraine into giving up half the value of its minerals to the USA as compensation for aid received so far, and is hammering Ukraine to give up territory to Russia and its largest nuclear power plant to the USA. He and Vice President J.D. Vance verbally ambushed Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in an effort to humiliate him into caving in completely.

None of it has worked. Russia has taken advantage of the USA strangling its flow of support to Ukraine and has escalated its attacks, especially as peace negotiations intensified. In recent days, Trump, Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have added pressure on Ukraine to give in by emphasizing that if there is no peace deal within the next few days, the USA will walk away from Ukraine.

In a press conference during a visit to South Africa, Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack on Kyiv among the most “intense and brazen” of the war so far. In the wake of this attack, he will return to Ukraine earlier than expected. He said, “It is extremely important that everyone around the world sees and understands what is really happening. Nearly 70 missiles, including ballistic ones. And about 150 attack drones.”

He said this attack on Kyiv apparently used ballistic missiles made in North Korea, although he is waiting for definitive confirmation. North Korea has also provided an estimated 12,000 troops to fight for Russia.
