Secretary of State Touts Sending Deportees & Criminals to El Salvador Prisons

| 0

Secretary of State Marco Rubio emerged from a meeting with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele touting Bukele’s offer to put into El Salvador’s prisons immigrants deported from the USA and American criminals.

USA criminals would be kept in the same new mega-prison as El salvadoran convicts from MS-13 and other potent gangs. It is called CECOT, an acronym that means terrorism confinement center. Conditions are much more bare-bones than those in American prisons.

The terms of the arrangement are contrary to USA law, particularly for USA citizens but also for immigrants who have not specifically violated immigration law and have not been refused by their original country.

Bukele says El Salvador would charge less to keep the deported prisoners than the USA would spend to keep them in its own prisons.
