Republican Party Tells Its Lawmakers to Stop Holding Town Halls

Congressional representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), who chairs the National Republican Congressional Committee, told Congressional Republicans not to hold town hall meetings with constituents any more.

Republicans are advised to stick with technological communications methods (where attendees who are not desired can be quietly and easily kicked out) or vet attendees of meetings. Hudson claimed without evidence that town hall meetings are being disrupted by by paid protesters. Some Republican town hall meetings have gone viral in online videos when lawmakers refused to listen to Republican constituents, and in once instance the lawmaker walked out on a Republican asking him a question.
