Protests Against Elon Musk Target Tesla

In response to Elon Musk’s rapid invasion of and dismantling of federal government agencies, protests at Tesla showrooms escalated on this second weekend of them, sparked by the hashtag #TeslaTakeover on BlueSky.

Elon Musk’s company Tesla produces about a third of his financial worth.

At each showroom, the protest group size tended to range from a dozen to a couple hundred, but on this weekend they went from a few locations to widespread. Chants frequently referenced Musk’s open support for the German far-right party Alternative für Deutschland and his two Nazi salutes at a celebration after Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Other Tesla-oriented protests included singer Sheryl Crow selling her Tesla and donating the proceeds to National Public Radio.

The price of Tesla stock shares has fallen 21% since Trump’s inauguration.
