OPM Tells Federal Agencies to Fire Low Performers Among Probationary Employees
The Office of Personnel Management told federal agencies to fire probationary employees who are low performers.
The probationary period usually lasts one to two years, depending upon the agency. In some agencies it applies not only to new hires, but also after promotions.
