Musk Worker Who Had Access to Treasury Code Quits After Racist Posts Surface
Marko Elez, who had access to modify Treasury Department software after DOGE took over the agency, quit after his racist posts surfaced.
In his posts, Elez claimed to have been racist before being racist was cool. He advocated repeal of the Civil Rights Act, supported eugenics, and opposed mixing of races. Further unsavory background details began to surface after these posts came to light.
Elez has worked for Elon Musk at SpaceX and social-media platform X before being deployed by Musk’s DOGE team.
The Treasury Department claimed Elez never had “write access” to modify Treasury software, but that claim turned out to be false. He did have access to change the software.
