Musk Group Offers $100 to Wisconsin Voters to Sign a Petition

Two days after early voting began in Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court election, Elon Musk’s America PAC offered $100 to Wisconsin voters to sign a petition opposing “activist judges.”

Musk’s PAC used a nearly identical tactic before the November 2024 elections, offering $1 million a day to voters in seven battleground states, including Wisconsin, to sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments. This is a method of energizing voters of a particular stripe to make them more likely to vote.

Election day is 1 April 2025. The race is tight between Susan Crawford who is backed by Democrats and Brad Schimel who is backed by Republicans. It will determine whether the majority of the Court continues to be liberal or becomes Republican.

According to the Brennan Center, two groups funded by Musk, America PAC and Building for America’s Future, have so far spent over $13 million on behalf of Schimel.

Shortly before Musk began to spend money to help Schimel, his electric vehicle company Tesla sued Wisconsin for not allowing the company to open dealerships. The case could go to the state Supreme Court. It would be convenient for Musk if the Court swings to the right before then.
