Judge Temporarily Bars Withholding of Federal Funds for NYC Due to Congestion Pricing

| 0

Federal District Court Judge Lewis Liman issued a temporary restraining order barring officials in Donald Trump’s regime from withholding federal funds from New York City due to its congestion pricing program.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy had threatened to cut off federal fund for projects in the city. Duffy has repeatedly set and then postponed deadlines for NYC to end its congestion pricing, using the threat of cutting off federal funding as leverage to force compliance with his demand. NYC’s congestion charge is the first in the USA. Similar plans have been in place in other large cities such as London for several years.

The TRO is only to stop further threatening while the court considers the merits of the case.
