Judge Partially Limits DOGE Access to Treasury Payments Systems

| 0

Federal District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotellyon barred the Treasury Department from allowing access “to any payment record or payment system of records maintained by or within the Bureau of the Fiscal Service.”

There are some exceptions to the prohibition. Thd order restricts Elon Musk’s DOGE team to read-only access in Treasury payment systems while Kollar-Kotellyon considers a request for a longer pause during consideration of a lawsuit against DOGE’s takeover of the systems. The case is Alliance for Retired Americans v. (Scott) Bessent, 25-cv-00313 in federal District Court for the District of Columbia (Washington).

The Musk workers permitted to have read-only access are “special government employees” Tom Krause, CEO of Cloud Software Group Inc., and Marko Elez, an engineer from Musk’s social-media platform X and his company SpaceX.
