Judge Orders Voice of America Kept Open

| 0

Federal District Court Judge J. Paul Oetken issued a temporary restraining order to block the shutdown of Voice of America.

The order is against Donald Trump adviser Kari Lake, the U.S. Agency for Global Media and its acting chief Victor Morales.

Voice of America is the oldest of five broadcasting networks operated by the agency. Its audience of listeners and readers is hundreds of millions of people. All of VOA’s contractors have already been terminated and all of its workforce has already been put on indefinite suspension. All operations closed and no new content has been generated since 15 March 2025.

The judge ordered that no more can be done to shut down VOA while the court begins to take up the legal challenge against its closure.
