Judges Partially Block DJT Order Targeting Jenner & Block and WilmerHale Law Firms

Federal District Court Judges John Bates and Richard Leon partially blocked Donald Trump’s executive order targeting law firms Jenner & Block and WilmerHale.

The two firms filed suit against the executive order earlier in the day.

In the Jenner & Block case, Bates blocked portions of the order which would cancel federal contracts held by clients of the two law firms and choke access to federal buildings and officials by the firms’ lawyers.

Bates called the executive order “reprehensible,” “disturbing” and threatening the firms with extinction by barring them from federal courthouses.

In the WilmerHale case, Leon blocked the portion of the order that would cut the firm’s access to federal buildings and officials, but allowed the portion that strips security clearances to stand. Leon called the executive order “retaliatory.”
