Israel Bombs Doha in Qatar to Target Hamas Negotiators

Israel bombed an upscale area in Doha, Qatar, in an effort to kill the negotiating team from Hamas.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the main target was lead negotiator Khalil al-Hayya. Other targets included Hamas politburo members such as  Khaled Mashal. The team were in Doha for Gaza ceasefire negotiations  via American mediators.

Herzog said the Hamas negotiators were extremists who persistently resisted ceasefire deals. News reports over many months have repeatedly noted Israel as most often resisting ceasefire proposals or backing out of such deals.

The attack killed a Qatari security official and five Hamas members. Hamas said none of the dead were part of the negotiating team.
