Hundreds Fired from FAA Amid Surge in Air Crashes

About 300 probationary federal employees were fired from the already understaffed Federal Aviation Administration despite a surge including four fatal crashes plus ground incidents involving aircraft since inauguration day.

The firings occurred during a long weekend capped by the Presidents Day holiday. Terminated workers include but were not limited to safety inspectors, systems specialists, mechanics and administrative personnel.

Elon Musk announced his DOGE team will delve into FAA systems to improve them. Before Musk’s DOGE began mass firings of federal personnel, his company SpaceX faced a $633,009 fine from the FAA for violations of its launch license.
