1165 Mostly Probationary Workers Fired from NIH
The new regime’s mass firings of mostly probationary federal employees took 1165 from the National Institutes of Health.
They were about 6% of the workforce, about the same as the overall cut across the Department of Health and Human Services. NIH is the main source of public funding for medical research in the USA and oversees 27 institutions.
