House Committee Withdraws Demand for Records from Northwestern University Law Clinics

The Republican-controlled House Education and the Workforce Committee withdrew its demand for records from two Northwestern University law clinics a day after the heads of those clinics filed suit to challenge the demand.

Federal District Court Judge Andrea Wood scrambled to call a hearing ahead of a deadline at noon Eastern time for compliance with the committee’s demands. With the demands withdrawn, the request for a temporary restraining order to lift the deadline became moot.
