In response to tariffs, Hong Kong’s post office will no longer ship small parcels to the USA.

The USA is ending a de minimis exemption that allowed shipments worth less than $800 to be untaxed. As of 2 May 2025, the USA will apply 120% tariff on such parcels. Hong Kong’s government said it will not collect taxes on behalf of the USA. It also said, “For sending items to the US, the public in Hong Kong should be prepared to pay exorbitant and unreasonable fees due to the U.S.’s unreasonable and bullying acts.”

Service for parcels that are not sent by air mail will end 16 April. Service for air mail parcels will end 27 April. Mail containing only documents will continue to be accepted.
