Namibia Deporting More than 500 USA Nationals

Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah announced the country will deport more than 500 USA citizens who are within Namibia without the required visas.

Deportation notices are already being delivered.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah said this for Namibia’s national dignity, a matter of reciprocating the way other countries treat Namibians. She indicated deportation would be done legally with due respect for rights.

The announcement follows a change in policy at the start of this month, taking 33 countries off the list of those whose citizens can visit Namibia without needing a visa. The USA is among the countries whose visa-free status was revoked.
