Head of Office of Special Counsel Sues Over Improper Firing & Gets Reprieve

Hampton Dellinger, head of the Office of Special Counsel, sued Donald Trump for firing him illegally and without cause. A federal District Court judge reinstated Dellinger at least until merits of the suit can be considered.

OSC is a watchdog, It protects whistleblowers who report government misdeeds, weighs in to enforce the Hatch Act that prohibits partisan election activities by federal employees, and is the organization tasked with looking into situation such as the tidal wave of potentially illegal firings and retaliatory measures since the new regime took power.

District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson’s reinstatement of Dellinger lasts until the end of Thursday to give her time to consider the merits of his lawsuit.
