FDA Cancels Meeting to Specify Next Flu Vaccine

The Food and Drug Administration canceled the meeting of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee to specify formulation of the flu vaccine for the 2025-26 influenza season.

VRBPAC is comprised of independent vaccine experts who review data for the annual update to the flu vaccine. They volunteer their time.

Although the FDA separately announced that it will make recommendations for the vaccine in time for manufacturers to make it, how the formulation will be determined without input from its panel of experts is unclear. Bringing experts together in a meeting for this has been an annual routine since the 1960s.
