FAA Ordered to Find Tens of Millions for Starlink with Minimal Paper Trail

| 0

The Federal Aviation Administration verbally told employees to find “tens of millions” to fund a new deal with Starlink satellite communications.

Elon Musk is maneuvering to cancel the current $2.4 billion Verizon project upgrading air traffic control communications with fiber optic cable. Musk wants to substitute his Starlink company instead. Toward that end, last month he ordered 4000 Starlink terminals sent to the FAA. He said they were at no cost to the government, but overlooked the cost of installing, integrating with existing systems, learning to use and maintaining the terminals. His maneuvers raised concerns about his obvious conflict of interest.

The way FAA workers have been ordered to “find” money for Starlink is abnormal and suggests a desire to avoid leaving a documentation trail.
