Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania Switch from Russian to European Energy Network

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania successfully completed switchover of their electrical grids from connection with Russia’s to connection with the European network through Poland.

The three countries were once part of the Soviet bloc. They are now members of the European Union and NATO, and strongly support Ukraine’s resistance against Russian invasion. They were concerned that Russia could use their connection with its energy grid against them.
