DOJ Drops Criminal Case Against Former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry

The Department of Justice moved to drop its criminal case against Republican former Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.

Fortenberry resigned from the House last year after being convicted of lying to the FBI. An appeals court overturned the conviction on the grounds that it should have been tried in a different legal venue. The DOJ renewed the case in one of the venues specified by the appeals court.
