DOGE Begins Putting $1 Limit on Government Credit Cards

| 0

Elon Musk’s DOGE began putting a $1 spending limit on most government credit cards for employees and contractors, starting at the General Services Administration.

Notice sent to workers said the cards are “paused” but up to 0.1% of the workforce can request to have a card threshold higher than $1.

Government credit cards help management keep track of certain types of spending. In many federal jobs, workers are required by law to use a government credit card for travel expenses, not personal cards. Where use of personal credit cards is an option, using a government card avoids imposing an undue burden on workers who would otherwise incur significant expenses for work-related travel or supplies that would not be repaid until after reimbursement request processing, which can take until after the worker has to pay their own credit card bill.
