A federal District Court Judge blocked deportation of three Venezuelans to detention at Guantanamo Bay, but they were deported to Venezuela the day after the court’s ruling.

Luis Eduardo Perez Parra, Leonel Rivas Gonzalez and Abrahan Josue Barrios had been detained more than a year. They asked a federal court to prevent them from being sent into “into the legal black hole” of Guantánamo (Gitmo). They were released to their homes on Sunday.

The following day, they were separated from their families and deported to Venezuela.
