6700 IRS Probationary Employees Fired in Midst of Tax Filing Season

In the midst of tax filing season, 6700 probationary employees at the Internal Revenue Service were fired.

These are about one third of the IRS’s probationary workers. The new regime has banned any hiring by the IRS, which usually hires thousands of temporary workers for the height of tax filing season. Some IRS workers have been diverted to help the Department of Homeland Security with mass deportations.
