DJT Withdraws USA from Paris Climate Accord

Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the USA from the Paris Climate Accord again. This is part of a bundle of orders rolling back climate and environmental protection policies.

The Paris accord is a 2015 global treaty attempting to prevent or mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis. Trump withdrew the USA from the accord in 2017. Biden reinstated the USA in the accord in 2021. Trump has now withdrawn the USA again. Exiting from the accord takes a year.

This executive order is only one element of Trump’s efforts to remove climate protections and policy, boosting fossil fuels while putting a damper on efforts to provide “clean energy.”
