DJT Orders Reclassification of Many Federal Workers for Easier Firing

| 0

To facilitate wholesale replacement of civil servants with people loyal to him, Donald Trump signed an executive order to reclassify as “political hires” thousands of federal workers. This makes it easier to fire them.

This executive order reinstates “Schedule F,” an order he signed in 2020 during his first term, which was rescinded by Biden. Mass hollowing out of nonpartisan administrative agencies and replacement with partisan loyalists is in line with the Project 2025 playbook.

Republicans in Congress want to support this executive order in legislation called the DOGE Acts. In contrast, a bipartisan bill called the Saving the Civil Service Act aims to protect the professionalism of federal employees from “politicization and political manipulation.”
