DJT Offers to Sell “Gold Card” Path to Citizenship for $5 million
Donald Trump announced replacement of the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program which encourages job-creating investments with a new “gold card” citizenship-path visa for immigrants who pay $5 million each.
He did not mention any requirement of investment to create jobs. The EB-5 visa requires investment of at least $1 million (reduced to $800,000 in distressed areas) in a venture that creates jobs in the USA.
Russian oligarchs will be welcome to buy “gold card” visas.
By law, donations to USA political campaigns have to come from American people and organizations. Oligarchs who buy their way into USA citizenship will be able to pour money directly into American politics.
