DJT Ends “De Minimis” Tariff Exemption for Small Parcels

| 0

Donald Trump ended the de minimis exemption from tariffs for small parcels worth less than $800 coming into the USA to consumers and originating in China or Taiwan.

This inflicts 145% tariffs not only on large retailers such as Shein and Temu, but also on many small businesses handling relatively low-value goods which previous did not incur any tariffs.

Many businesses, large and small, have chosen to stop servicing that sector of the market. Some parcel delivery services stopped accepting such small shipments to the USA, not only from China and Taiwan but also from other countries because the goods could have been made in one of those countries.
