DJT Closes Only Asylum Appointment Mechanism and Cancels Pending Appointments

During the afternoon after being inaugurated as President, Donald Trump ordered the CBP One app shut down and cancelled all pending appointments made through it by asylum seekers.

The app was set up by the Biden administration to reduce illegal border crossings by asylum seekers by providing an orderly way for people to seek asylum legally. It was the only way for people to get an appointment to request asylum.
