DHS Revives Surveillance Based on Sexual Orientation

The Department of Homeland Security terminated policies that prohibited surveillance based solely on the targeted person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

The reinstatement of such surveillance was justified by Donald Trump’s executive order of 20 January 2025 that ordered elimination of policies and protections associated with diversity, equity and inclusion.
