DHS Removes List of Sanctuary Jurisdictions from Website After Pushback

After pushback from sheriffs and Republican-controlled places, Department of Homeland Security quietly removed from its website a list of what it claimed were about 500 sanctuary jurisdictions obstructing Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign.

The list supposedly named sanctuary cities, counties and states across the country. Some of them vociferously complained that they are actually strong Republican-controlled supporters of the campaign.

The National Sheriffs’ Association also formally objected to list, saying it was compiled with no input from sheriffs and “violated the core principles of trust, cooperation and partnership with fellow law enforcement.”

In an interview on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures, host Maria Bartiromo asked DHS Secretary Kristi Noem about the list. Noem would not acknowledge takedown of the list. She said, “Some of the cities have pushed back. They think because they don’t have one law or another on the books that they don’t qualify, but they do qualify. They are giving sanctuary to criminals.” This implies the list may reappear after revisions.
