DJT Hikes Steel Tariffs from 25% to 50% Except Temporarily for UK

Donald Trump raised USA tariffs on imported steel to 50%, except he temporarily left tariffs on steel from the UK at 25% which he will either raise or reduce by 9 July 2025, depending upon whether a pending trade agreement between the USA and UK is ratified to his satisfaction by then.

The UK claims to be the first country to achieve a trade deal with Trump in this term of office, although it is not yet fully sealed and implemented.

Even with ratification of the agreement, quotas set by it could have the effect of raising tariffs on steel from the UK.
