Australian Journalist Lauren Tomasi Shot in California with Rubber Bullet While On Air

Australian 9 News reporter Lauren Tomasi was shot by officers in the leg with a rubber bullet while on air, visibly broadcasting in a substantial clear space and not in the midst of protesters in Los Angeles, California.

Immediately after being shot, she retreated toward the protesters for safety. Voices, one of which must have been her camera operator, could be heard asking whether she was okay.

The station said on its website:

Tomasi was struck as she reported live near the front line of the protests surrounding the city’s metropolitan detention centre.

Just seconds after she wrapped up a live cross to Australia, one of the officers turned his gun towards Tomasi and fired at her from close range.
Shooting one working journalist in the leg might have been chaos. Shooting another in the leg the same day who was clearly in the open, at close range, when the situation was clearly not chaotic looked like a policy of taking out reporters to keep media from reporting and allow officers to control the narrative in the media.
