Israel Takes Aid Ship Madleen in International Waters

Israeli forces have stopped the UK flagged ship Madleen in international waters and detained a dozen activists aboard it, including Greta Thunberg, about 100 miles from destination Gaza, where the ship intended to deliver a small but symbolic load of aid including baby formula, food and medical supplies.

Freedom Flotilla Coalition organized the trip as a form of protest against Israel’s ongoing military assault of the Gaza Strip and Israel’s strangulation of the flow of humanitarian aid there. The Coalition shared video of the crew in the moments before the ship was intercepted by Israeli forces. They threw their phones overboard and sat, wearing life vests, with their hands up.

Israeli military who took the ship have been ordered to make the activists they detained watch videos of atrocities by Hamas. The activists are to be returned to their home nations.

The Israeli foreign ministry added that the passengers would be returned to their home countries.
