White House Overrides Precedent to Specify Press Pool

Shattering longstanding precedent of the White House Correspondents Association deciding which media outlets are represented in the White House press pool, the White House press office declared it will choose the press pool instead.

The press office intends to add streaming services and other new outlets to the pool. The White House is in a courtroom battle with Associated Press over excluding AP from its traditional place in the press pool rotation.

The WHCA did not get advance notice of the announced change.
