Veterans Administration Exempts 300k Jobs from Hiring Freeze

| 0

After vociferous outcry from military veterans, the Veterans Administration announced exemption of 300,000 of its health care roles from the federal hiring freeze Donald Trump ordered 20 January 2025.

The hiring freeze had not only stopped new hiring, it had also rescinded final job offers to many health care workers. In some cases jobs were withdrawn after workers spent thousands of dollars relocating their families. At least some of those jobs have been reinstated. It is not clear whether all of the will be reinstated.

At the end of 2024, the VA was advertising 40,000 job vacancies. Today it was advertising 139.
