USA Burns 500 Tons of Food Intended for Hungry Children

Donald Trump’s regime is burning 500 tons of high-nutrition food biscuits intended for hungry children overseas, after refusing to distribute them until they went out of date.

The biscuits were in a Dubai warehouse. They could have fed 1.5 million children in crisis areas such as Afghanistan and Pakistan for a week. Under former President Biden, the USA spent $800,000 to buy them. USAID staff repeatedly asked for permission to distribute them and were forbidden to do so.

In May, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Congress “no food aid would go to waste.” He had already ordered incineration of the food, which will cost another $130,000 of taxpayer money. Rubio has not explained why the food was not distributed, or why it was not redirected to other countries if he decided children in Afghanistan and Pakistan should not have it.

More than 66,000 tons of additional emergency food aid is nearing expiration. It is warehoused in Djibouti, Dubai, Houston and South Africa. Six children in the Democratic Republic of Congo recently died as a result of the halt of food aid from the USA.

Food companies that make such emergency food aid as Plumpy Nut have warehouses of products but have not received any orders from the government for months and have no idea what the government intends to do.
