U.S. Institute of Peace Turns Away DOGE Staffers

Several members of Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” arrived at the U.S. Institute of Peace unannounced with FBI agents, but were denied entry.

DOGE is a subset of a White House IT team, not a government department.

USIP’s director of communications Gonzo Gallegos told The Hill that “They were met at the door by the Institute’s outside counsel who informed them of USIP’s private and independent status as a non-executive branch agency.  Following that discussion, the DOGE representatives departed.”

USIP was established by Congress as a national non-partisan organization with federal funding and a mission to protect national interests by working to prevent violent conflict and broker peace deals abroad. Toward that end, USIP works closely with the Department of Defense. Its board of directors consists of the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and President of the National Defense University.
