Two Teenaged Girls Shot Near Stonewall Inn After Pride Celebrations

As a LGBTQ+ Pride parade wound down near the historic Stonewall Inn in New York, two teenaged girls were hit by gunshots.

A 17 year old girl was shot in the leg. A 16 year old girl was shot in the head. Conflicting stories circulated in the media about exactly what happened, but it was apparently a matter between two rival groups and not an attack on the parade.

The hospital they were taken to said the 17 year old was in stable condition and the 16 year old was in critical condition.

The Stonewall Inn expressed deep shock at the shootings. “While the incident did not take place at our establishment, it occurred on a day that holds profound meaning to our community—Pride is our most sacred day of the year.” The Inn repeated its “unwavering commitment to a world free from hate, violence, and fear.”
