Texas Measles Outbreak Spreads to Mexico

| 0

The measles outbreak in west Texas, which spread first to adjacent counties in New Mexico, crossed the southern border into Mexico.

Mexican public health authorities have been warning against travel to Texas, but many Mexicans commute to jobs or university courses on the USA side of the border.

As of 9 March 2025, Mexico has 22 confirmed cases, 18 of which are in Chihuahua state which borders Texas.

In 2024, Mexico had only seven cases for the entire year, all of them imported.

USA Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. still has only issued a mild suggestion that parents consider vaccination. He is anti-vaccination in his public policy stances and announcements, although his children are vaccinated.
