Tax Cheat Paul Walczak Pardoned After Mother Attends Million Dollar DJT Dinner

Donald Trump pardoned Paul Walczak, who pleaded guilty to using his employees’ tax money to fund his lifestyle, after Walczak’s mother attended a million dollar Trump dinner.

Tax withholdings from his nursing home’s employee paychecks totaled $7.4 million from 2016 to 2019, which he kept instead of putting the money into payroll tax deposits. He also kept $3.4 million of the business portion of employee Social Security and Medicare taxes. He spent a million to buy a yacht and put hundreds of thousands into personal accounts. He transferred other funds to his wife and a family member. He used business accounts for personal shopping. He stopped filing personal tax returns in 2018. He owed the Internal Revenue Service $10.9 million.

Walczak was sentenced to 18 months prison time, two years supervised release thereafter, and $4.4 million in restitution.

Walczak’s mother Elizabeth Fago fundraised millions of dollars for Republican election campaigns, including Trump’s. Ashley Biden’s diary, which was published by Project Veritas to damage the 2020 Presidential campaign of her father Joe Biden, was first shown to Trump’s team in Fago’s home. Trump’s Department of Justice closed the investigation into the diary’s theft and publication soon after he took office in January 2025. Walczak cited this in his application for a pardon, claiming he was persecuted for his mother’s political activities.

Nothing happened with the pardon request until after Fago attended a $1 million per person fundraising dinner at Trump’s resort Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. There, she could meet with Trump directly. Trump issued the pardon less than three weeks later.
